AN APRIL OF PEASANT STRUGGLES
-------------------------
The month of April was once again marked by memory and resistance across
our territories. On the occasion of April 17th -- International Day of
Peasant Struggles -- La Via Campesina called for a global mobilization
under the banner "Land, Water, and Territories for Life, Not for
Profit!"
In a context of global capital expansion, far-right offensives, land
grabbing, violence, genocide, and a worsening climate crisis, our
organizations rose up to defend life, demand rights, denounce false
solutions, and continue building food sovereignty from the ground up. In
our international statement, we honored the memory of the 21 peasants
murdered in the Eldorado do Carajás massacre, Brazil, on April 17, 1996.
From the mountains to the coasts, from the great plains to the cities,
the peasant struggles of April were seeds of hope, resistance, and life.
In every demonstration, every fair, every proposal, we reaffirmed that
food sovereignty is inseparable from social justice and the dignity of
peoples. And that, in the face of false solutions imposed from above,
true answers arise from the territories, from collective labor, and from
the wisdom of the people.

THE 'MARCH' OF WOMEN
-------------------------
Peasant and Rural Women have reaped political victories that were long
cultivated through organization and mobilization. The achievement of
rights is the result of the collective effort of the working class. We
salute all women who, in different territories, sustain life, food,
care, and social transformations. As La Via Campesina, we reaffirm our
commitment to Peasant and Popular Feminism and its campaign Stop
Violence, promoting concrete responses to current crises through food
sovereignty and feminist struggle.
This March, we called for international solidarity and mobilization
against fascism, in defense of human rights, Food Sovereignty and social
justice. Women continue marching, denouncing violence and environmental
and social crimes, resisting the looting of our resources and the
massacre of our peoples. We continue weaving networks and alliances to
expose patriarchy, capitalism and neoliberalism as a threat to life on
this planet!

INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY
Farming where the world looks away
-------------------------
To view the Palestinian farmer solely as a symbol of resilience or
nostalgia is to miss the point. Today, the farmer is the frontline
defender of sovereignty, environmental justice, and the right to life
itself. The struggle is not about a single harvest, it is about
safeguarding the very possibility of continued Palestinian presence on
the land, beyond the urban ghettos and fragmented enclaves.

Peasants Belong on Farms, Not in Prisons. Release South Korean Peasant
Leader Hyun Jin-hee Immediately!
-------------------------
La Via Campesina denounces the injustice and inequality of the
judiciary, and we urgently call once again for the immediate release of
Hyun Jin-hee--a peasant woman who has dedicated her life to farming, to
realizing food sovereignty, and to securing the right to live for all
peasants.

Our goal is to strengthen popular mobilization and converge on unified
agendas: socio-environmental, anti-patriarchal, anti-capitalist,
anti-colonialist, anti-racist, and rights-based, while respecting their
diversities and specificities, united by a future of well-being.
